5 bad habits after eating meal

A few thoughtless actions we take after eating can have a harmful impact on our internal systems.

Don’t do these seven harmful work right after eating.

Many times we eat nutritious food but still our health is not good and we wonder why our health continues to deteriorate despite taking rich and healthy food. Actually, we are taking a balanced diet, but we adopt many wrong habits after eating and we are doing those things normally without knowing that these actions are actually harming our health by not allowing the nutrients in the food to do their job properly in the body.

You may stay healthier by adopting healthy eating habits. However unhealthy habits can cause illness.

Don’t eat fruits: Avoid eating fruits right after a meal. To fully benefit from the fruits and ensure appropriate digestion, doctors and nutritionists recommend eating fruits before lunch. Eating fruit right after a meal exerts pressure on the stomach, which hinders the passage of food through the intestines and stomach and might eventually cause health issues.  Research shows that when you consume fruit just after eating, the nutrients, fibre, and natural sugar cannot be completely digested because there is still food in your stomach. As a result, you may have heartburn and indigestion.

Fruit should therefore be consumed on an empty stomach or at least two hours after a meal.

Tobacco use is bad: Do not smoke right after eating. This seriously increases your risk of developing heart and circulatory diseases. Smoking is bad to your health, but when you smoke after eating, the adverse consequences are amplified. Because the digestive system works on the entire body after eating, nicotine from cigarettes interacts with oxygen in the blood. Because of the burst of free radicals created by smoking after a meal, the intestines and other internal organs are more likely to be harmed. You can get lung or bowel cancer if you do this every day. A research state that the lower esophageal sphincter, a muscle between the stomach and esophagus, is weakened by nicotine, preventing acidic semi digested food from flowing back into the esophagus. According to another study, smoking a cigarette after a meal is as bad for your health as smoking ten cigarettes.

Tea is dangerous:  If you have a habit of drinking tea just after eating, stop right now. Tea consumption after eating has an effect on the body's ability to absorb iron. The acid in tea reduces the effect of protein and iron in food. Doing this for several days or making it a habit can lead to iron deficiency and you can suffer from dangerous diseases like anemia. Lack of iron can cause complaints of loss of appetite, cold hands and feet, chest pain and fatigue, so stop this habit for the sake of your life. Tea leaves are acidic, which interferes with digestion. If you ingest protein in food, the acid in the tea hardens the protein, making it more difficult to digest.

Not good to sleep: It is not advised to eat right before bed because it interferes with the body's circadian cycle.

You don't allow your body enough time to process and burn calories when you eat straight before bed. Those calories get turned into fat and are then stored by the body, rather than being used as fuel throughout the day.

When your body consumes more calories than it expels, weight gain occurs. It makes no difference when you eat. If you go to bed just after eating, your body won't have had time to burn off those calories. In actuality, overindulging in food right before bed might be detrimental.

Lying down immediately after eating can cause stomach contents to reflux into the esophagus, causing symptoms of GERD and heartburn. Generally, it is recommended that you sleep 2-3 hours after having dinner.

Don’t brush your teeth right after eating: Everyone is aware of the benefits of brushing teeth after eating. But sometimes it can also be detrimental.

After eating, wait a little before brushing. It is recommended that you wait half an hour after consuming any liquid (except from water) before cleaning your teeth. More so if it's a fizzy beverage like orange juice! Your saliva's proteins and enzymes allow your tooth enamel to remineralize over the course of a good thirty minutes. That's how long it takes for your tooth enamel to naturally remineralize after all of those acids have neutralised and stopped eroding your teeth. You can brush in to get rid of any remaining plaque and food particles after the acids begin to subside. Before you go and scrub all of the sugars across all of your teeth, let your tooth enamel a good thirty minutes to remineralize itself with the enzymes and proteins in your saliva.

Avoid exercising: Exercise shouldn't be done right after a meal because it can impede digestion. It may result in acid reflux by producing vomiting, nausea, and stomach/abdominal pain. Even though it usually takes 2-4 hours for a meal to fully digest, you should wait to exercise to prevent adverse effects for 1-2 hours after a moderate-sized meal and 30 minutes after eating a snack.

Don’t take bath: After eating, taking a bath throws off your body's normal digestion schedule. Additionally, a healthy volume of blood flow into the stomach is crucial for digestion, which requires a lot of energy. Your body temperature rises a little after eating because blood flow is concentrated in your digestive system. That being said, there will be a diversion in blood flow if you take a shower immediately after eating. Digestion is delayed because blood that was intended for that function instead starts to flow to other bodily parts.
